Seasons

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.”
John Lubbock

Strange, really, to think that summer is almost over. It seems like it just got here… the ditzy bimbo with the heart of gold, who shows up late to the party, only to drink too much and leave early, with some greasy September guy.

Don’t get me wrong. I like the fall. Football, Halloween, hockey, elections… all the best spectator sports, with intrigue and treachery galore. I am actually quite fond of September, that last good month, at least weather-wise. The month where the holdout days of summer make their last stand, where the sun’s rays have not yet been chilled by the winter wind.

Still, nobody likes to get cheated out of a summer.
