Democracy

I was bopping between the football game and the Presidential debate the other night, neither of which was particularly inspiring (although I’d have to say that both Obama and Romney showed more life than the Detroit Lions). Micah was sitting next to me for a while and I think his comment says it as well as I ever could… when one of the candidates was talking (not important which one), he looked at me and said, “Well, now they’re just making things up.”

And, speaking of making things up, I caught this site the other day as well. Now I realize everyone is entitled to his or her point of view, but this kind of bogus engineering is flatout ridiculous. Insulting. At what point do I get to use stout language, to point and snicker, to actively belittle and condescend? Cuz I think we’re well past that point.

When it comes to the election, it doesn’t matter to me… I’ve already voted. In a democracy, we get the government we deserve, so it’s hard to complain too much. When it comes to paddles, ask yourself if you think you’ll be seeing anything like this in another year or so. You get the paddle you deserve too.

Whether you’re voting or choosing a paddle, beware of fads. (Remember the Seven2 paddle? That’s it on the right.) When something is different simply for the sake of being different and it proposes to fix problems that either don’t exist or are largely problems of its own making, your BS detector should be pinging.

Voting and paddle selection… two very important choices. Don’t screw it up.
