Aches and pains

There’s a bump on one of my knuckles on my right hand. It feels like maybe a dislocation that didn’t quite pop back in right, but I don’t think that’s what it is. Hard to say. My left hand hurts a little too, from time to time. My back, of course, is what got me out of the Air Force, and it’s always a bit sore. Although it’s not killing me at the moment, I never know when the moment will arrive. But the thing that’s really bothering me now is my right shoulder, where it feels like I have some kind of tendonitis, a sharp, focused pain deep inside the joint. It’s funny, because that’s my “good” shoulder; it’s the left rotator cuff that’s been torn before.
That which does not kill us makes us stronger. That’s what I’ve been told, anyway. I used to work with a guy who saw it a little differently, however, and he said, “That which does not kill us, weakens us up so the next thing kills us.” I’m not sure exactly how it works.
I’m leaving for Mount Adams tomorrow. I don’t know what I’ll find in terms of climbing conditions, other than a whole lot of snow. I am planning on parking about 5 miles from the trailhead because of the snowpack and I’ll be doing a long stretch of the lower mountain on snowshoes. I expect I’ll get to know all of my aches and pains better along the way.
