A Modern holiday

I have not taken part in any of the hype that inevitably leads up to the Big Game. I haven’t watched much news or ESPN, I have barely glanced at the online fare… I haven’t paid attention to the spectacle of the event, the incredible wierdness that inevitably accompanies this week of wretched excess.

I am not a fan of the pregame shows, especially the ones that run for an entire week. I don’t care what Deion Sanders says. To me, it’s simple. I am a football fan and, more to the point, a Packers fan, and today is a big day. I will be indoors today, in front of the screen, watching what I hope will be the Packers’ 4th Super Bowl victory and their 13th Championship. The Lombardi Trophy coming back where it belongs. Titletown, tradition, fresh cheese curds and some smash-mouth football.

I’m getting misty.
