Blue skies

There is a reason why people live in Santa Barbara. OK, there are probably a variety of reasons but, when it comes right down to it, everybody eventually mentions the weather. And it’s true: this is the best climate on the planet.

It’s 8:00am, sunny with a light breeze, probably 65 degrees – headed up to about 74 today. Not a cloud in the sky, the mountains are clear and green and close enough to touch. I haven’t been to the beach yet, but it doesn’t matter. I know what I’ll find when I get there… more perfection.

I am from here – I was born less than a mile from where I’m sitting now – but I have lived away for so long that it all seems new to me somehow. I am amazed that I did not value this weather more than I did, back in the day that I used to make my home here. The conditions are simply not a factor, for the most part, in whatever plan you may have for the day. It is a most delightful and reliable part of what makes this place such a paradise.
