Little Tahoma Peak is a bump on the eastern side of Mount Rainier. Composed of chossy rock that is notoriously unstable, it rises thousands of feet above the Emmons Glacier like a sentinel of stone.
In 1963, a series of huge rockfalls off shed about 14 million cubic yards off its north side and scattered debris onto the slopes of the Emmons.
At 11,138 feet, Little T is the third highest point in Washington, but because it’s so close to the bulk of Rainier, you’d never know it.
I hear the view is quite impressive.
