Wet

There was a flood watch issued last Wednesday for the Skokomish. The rains that we’ve been having lately look more like what we’d get in November of January than normal for June, which instantly brings the Skokomish to the fore.

Because the snow is melting in the higher elevations, the rivers are already running fairly high. It doesn’t take as much rainfall to push them over the top and there’s no river that gets pushed more easily than that one. With the drier weather that we had on Thursday and Saturday, the water level fell again, and the flooding danger passed.

Of course, it’s raining again now.
