Dancing class at the end of the road

We’re heading out to the Dosewallips today on a family camping trip. A few months back, I mentioned to the boy that the Dosewallips road had been washed out by the river at one point and ever since then, he’s wanted to see it. I don’t know what he thinks it will look like and I hope he’s not disappointed, but he’s been set on paying a visit, to see the “End of the Road.”

So that’s our plan. We’re thinking we’ll park in one of the unofficial sites that have been formed near the present road terminus and do a little bit of hiking and a lot of throwing rocks in the river. It’s hard to know what the weather will do and we’ll only be gone for the night, but when your three year-old dearly wants to see the end of the road, you take him there.

I think it was Kurt Vonnegut that said, “Unexpected travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God.”
