In and out of touch

Today is the first day of the voyage of the Hyas yiem. I built this “kayak” out of old 2-liter bottles and I’m paddling it from Olympia to Bellingham – the length of Puget Sound – in an effort to raise awareness about the problem of marine plastic debris. It promises to be a unique and interesting voyage. (The photo at the top was taken at the place where I’m planning on being tonight… any guesses?)

I’m going to be on and off the water quite a bit in the next 6 weeks and my time in fron tof a computer is likely to be cut considerably. If it seems like a while since I’ve added anything to this site, it’s not because I’m done; I just have a mountain of writing to do elsewhere. I will be back.

Meanwhile, I’ll be posting about the voyage on the Ikkatsu Project web site and on Facebook. I’d love to hear from you if you get the chance.
