Flag Expeditions

Flag Expeditions are those trips that carry the Azimuth flag along with them, a symbol of the undeniable quest for adventure and an endorsement of each particular expedition that is chosen. Past Flag Expeditions have sea kayaked the Washington coast and explored the Santa Barbara Channel Islands; new expeditions are constantly in development. Updates about this and other expeditions we support are continually being revised here on this page. Read about past and current expeditions and projects, then get busy planning your own.

Every year, AE will distribute grant money to qualified applicants, either in one lump amount, or split into smaller amounts. Qualified applicants will:

  • be participating in a program that is intended to provide opportunities for exploration and new discovery.
  • using human power as an integral part of the proposed program or expedition.
  • apply for the grant using application format provided.
